The Challenge:

L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University is a young, but well-known provider of higher education for talented graduates in Kazakhstan.

The capacity of the university enabled it to compete in the global education arena, but international recognition was an area that needed improvement.

Another area for development was research publications. While the university did have the talent, the lack of international recognition meant that the number of publications in peer-reviewed journals was not as high as it could be. This was something the institution wanted to rectify.

The Solution:

We worked with the Eurasian National University to help them build their reputation and notability, and through this to increase the number of their research publications appearing in peer-reviewed journals.

Because published research was such an important factor for this university, we focused on building their image as a globally respected institution.

Participation in QS events, and the development of a profile on www.topuniversities.com further helped to increase their international profile. And, as a result of these positive changes, their position in the rankings also rose.

The Result:

ENU’s desire to increase publications was successful and since 2010 the university has seen a 525% increase in published works. While only 28 papers were indexed in 2010, a huge 866 papers were out by 2016.

The university’s position in the rankings increased, which in turn led to higher recognition of ENU among leading universities. As a direct result of which, in 2015, the university became partners with institutions such as Cambridge, Sussex and Coventry.

In addition, participation in QS events has made ENU more visible in Asian and MENA regions, attracting the attention of top universities, including PolyU and the Singapore National University.
